Corfu is beautiful Greek island in the Ionian Sea. It is the perfect place to go on your summer holiday as there is lots to do and the weather is glorious.

From May to October expect temperatures of 20C – 30C. July and August being the warmest.

The island of Corfu has many places to enjoy a holiday from Corfu Town, Aghios Ioannis, Dassia, Gouvia, Ipsos, Kommeno, Kontokali, Messonghi, Moraitika, Nissaki, Perama, Barbati, Acharavi, Paleokastritsa and Aghios Georgios South.

It depends what you are looking for on your holiday; relaxing, culture, food and drink, beach, water sports or hiking.

Corfu Town

Corfu Town has lots of shops, restaurants and bars. There is the Old Corfu Town, the Old Fortress, the Liston and the New Fortress to explore. There is a hop on hop off bus that goes around the town and it is close to beaches.

Aghios Ioannis

Aghios Ioannis is in the very centre of the island. It is 10 minutes to the sandy beaches on the west coast and 15 minutes to Corfu Town. Aghios Ioannis is good if you like to walk or cycle and be in a small village with small shops, bars and restaurants.

Dassia

Dassia is 12km from Corfu town on the east coast. It is set along the main road and beach and there are many tavernas, shops and bars. Dassia faces Albania and the Greek mainland, so the views are beautiful.

Gouvia

Gouvia is 8km north of Corfu town on the east coast. There is a small beach set in a secluded natural bay and there are many tavernas, bars and shops in the area.

Ipsos

Ipsos is 14km from Corfu town, on the east coast. There are lots of tavernas, restaurants, shops and a few nightclubs. There is a long shingle beach and there are a range of water sports on offer here. There is a promenade along the beach, so it is a good place for walking, cycling, running.

Messonghi

Messonghi is 21km south of Corfu town. There is a sandy beach that runs along this shoreline. It is a quieter area but has many tavernas, bars and shops. The view looks across to the Greek mainland.

Barbati

Barbati is about 23km from Corfu town, on the North East Coast The views around Barbati are of the Pantokrator hills that rise above the area that looks out to Albania and the Greek mainland. There is a shingle and beach and there are many tavernas, bars and shops.

Aghios Georgios South

Agios Georgios is southwest of Corfu and they have some of the best beaches on the island. Some water sports are available on these beaches. There is a good selection of tavernas, bars and shops.

Agios Georgios is a great place for those who like walking and cycling. Walk through the olive groves and visit the quaint 10th-century village of Argirades where life goes on as it has been for years.
