Why to Visit Malta This Year

 

Malta is beautiful island located in the Mediterranean Sea between Italy and Africa. It is a fantastic choice for a summer holiday or a city break away.

The weather varies from 13 – 17C in the winter months, 17 -20C in Spring/Autumn, 24 – 31 *C in the summer.

It is a unique place to visit as it has been ruled by many other countries. It has been ruled by the Arabs, Normans, Germans, French, Spanish and the British.

Malta has a mix of architecture and a variety of places to visit. The capital of Malta is Valletta and it is bursting with things to do and is a great place to stay.

What to See in Malta

Tarxien Temples – In Valletta see the remains of the Tarxien Temples that date back to 3600 BC and were hidden under farmland for years.

St. John’s Co-Cathedral – In the centre of Valletta is St. John’s Co-Cathedral, that has the painting of ‘The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist’  by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio.

Saluting Battery – See the Saluting Battery, located high along Valletta’s eastern historic ramparts and see the spectacular views of the Grand Harbour. While you are there see the War HQ Tunnel and war museum.

Valletta Waterfront – Visit the waterfront and have a bite to eat or take a boat tour of the harbour and see the beautiful city from the water.

Mdina – Explore the walled city of Mdina in the northern region of Malta that dates to the 8th century. If you are a Game of Thrones fan this is where Kings Landing was filmed in the first series.

If you would like to be by the beach head over to St. Paul’s Bay. For sandy beaches, water sports, diving and snorkelling. There are lots of lovely relaxing hotels in St. Pauls Bay.

Gozo is an island next to Malta.  It is smaller than Malta and is known for its Neolithic Ġgantija Temple ruins, rural hiking paths, beaches and scuba-diving sites.
